FAMOJA

Framework for Agent-based MOdeling with JAva

About FAMOJA

FAMOJA consists of a collection of Java classes which aid in the rapid prototyping of agent-based models. Models can be saved into files and can be distributed together with their own java classes and documentation in one single easy-to-download file that can be loaded right into the FAMOJA GUI.

FAMOJA aids you by providing things like

  • a graphical user interface where models can easily be run, examined, modified and rerun
  • ready to use Agents for displaying data in charts
  • Agents and Viewers for visualizing models where Agents are situated in a grid environment
while still providing unlimited access to anything the Java Platform has to offer.

FAMOJA is used to teach classes about agent-based modelling and to implement models and tools in various of our research projects.

For the near future we're investigating approaches to visually program Agents from within the FAMOJA environment. With this we aim to decrease the entry barrier for people not particularly familiar with Java or programming in general.
